WIPO Partner International Intellectual Property Training Institutes
WIPO has established a partnership network of international training institutes in the field of intellectual property (IP).
Modalities
All WIPO partnership institutes participating in the network shall be subject to the following guidelines:
(a) an annual report on the institutes activities shall be submitted to WIPO;
(b) the period of the partnership is for three years, with the possibility of renewal, subject to the continued fulfillment of the criteria mentioned below;
(c) the partnership does not create any financial, human resource or other obligation for either party other than those specified therein;
(d) the use of the logo of each party shall be given favorable consideration for ad hoc activities, subject to prior written approval in each case;
(e) each party will organize at least one joint training course with WIPO during the term of the partnership;
(f) the partnership will be established on the basis of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) or an exchange of letters;
(g) the focal point for the implementation of the network will be the WIPO Worldwide Academy.
Criteria
Those institutes wishing to participate in the network must fulfill the following basic, key criteria:
- be a governmental or not-for-profit organization, other than a purely academic institute of higher learning, dedicated to the training of professionals working in the field of intellectual property;
- have a mandate and program of activities that are consonant with WIPOs objectives and mission;
- have achieved excellence in the quality of its training activities, which must include the international aspects of intellectual property;
- be making a significant contribution to the field of IP training with
an annual program of at least 10 courses and a yearly total participation of at least
300 trainees, including 30 foreign participants; - have a minimum of three full-time teaching staff to implement the
training program; - have a proven track record in cooperating with WIPO in the area of
IP training, and have co-organized at least three training courses with WIPO in the
last five years; - have suitable on-site training facilities, including adequate training rooms, teaching equipment (including Internet access and work stations for trainees), and research and reference materials.
